hey folks, November is National Novel Writing Month. Check out NaNoWritMo. It's a website that encourages people to just keep writing everyday for the month of November. is there a book that you have always wanted to write, or do you want to just show up everyday and see where the adventure unfolds.
There is no editing, thinking too much, or even re reading your work. Keep the judgement out of it, as you allow yourself a brain drain every day for the month. The goal is 50,000 words by the end (aprox 1,500 to 1,700 words a day) That's about 3 or 4 pages depending on how you set up your fonts.
join in! Writing begins Nov 1. Even if you think you can't do it, do it anyway!!!
happy writing,
Chris

While I appreciate the spirit and the love and the joy that writing endlessly can bring some people.
I believe that there is a time to write and there is a time to keep ideas on the back burner and there is a time to move some ideas up to the front burner.
I think that people who desire to write everyday whether they feel like it or not should only do so if it truly brings them joy and enlightenment. If I draw every day I run the possibility of straining my visual memory and hand eye co-ordinance. I wait a day or two until the well is full again to experience the joy of drawing. Guitar and songwriting is the same, there is a song when the song finds you and you find it , there is communication between one's self and an imaginary audience. The idea of writing creatively every day could potentially be uncreative, for me anyway. maybe not for you, I can see how people might feel a sense of freedom by marathon writing and never reading it back to one's self, it can focus a lot of ideas.
But, I'd rather wait for the one out of one hundred ideas that really moves me.
Anyway, have a creative month of November. Who knows what it will bring, October was brutal for me I got scorched by forest fire while being stuck in quicksand at the same time a creeping strangling ivy was growing around my neck, I almost succumbed to religion by I was instead saved by a pigeon.
A white one whom I named Little Barack.
Tjk, NaNoWritMo is just one way of doing it, it's a specific writing exercise, and certainly not for everyone. Everyone has a different creative process.
People certainly experience blocks and troubles along the way on a writing month. i guess the idea is to get it out, get the juices flowing, and to write more than you think you can, cause there might be some gold in that shit. Also, you are not alone (thousands of writers will be suffering along with you).
You also can read your stuff, but the idea is not to get stuck in critiquing, perfecting, rewriting...etc.
But it's like working out. Some people's bodies are made for certain exercise. Guess our creative bodies are different too. Gotta do what's best for you.
Thank gods for Little Barack.
Hey Kids!
Use your chakra questions for your daily writing.
I miss writing creatively daily. I may do the nanowrimo. I tried doing it one year, but then I decided to get a divorce. It was fun.
Looking back on early chakra writing exercises though, I realize I've got some stories to tell. Well, actually, I knew that beforehand, but it would be fun to just do it.
I feel the same way about taking in information that TJ feels about putting out info. My brain is saturated. I hardly understand myself anymore. trying to write academic papers recently and I have brilliant insights and then suddenly my mind says, "huh?"
All that I know is I have to write it down or else I will forget it.
My new moon wish - time and money for more yoga experiments, writing experiments, time in the woods, and happiness knitting and painting.
I dreamed lat night that Barack Obama and his wife both were playing trumpet very very well and an all balls out celebration. The Saints were marching in and everyone in the room was ecstatic!
